It uses compressed air, water, and fine powder sprayed under pressure to clean soft plaque, stains from coffee, tea, and tobacco, and polish the tooth surface.

How ​​Does the Process Work? Is It Painful?

A single scaling session at Dental Fam takes approximately 30 minutes, applicable to both packages, and is usually painless, with only slight sensitivity depending on individual sensitivity.

The process consists of 4 steps: examination and assessment of tartar buildup, wearing protective glasses, cleaning each tooth area using an ultrasonic or Aquacare tip, and a follow-up check and polishing after completion. If there is a large amount of tartar and you cannot tolerate the sensitivity, Dental Fam will administer local anesthesia before the procedure.

How ​​Often Should You Get Your Teeth Scaled? Are there any discounts for returning customers?**

The common frequency is every 6 months, but for heavy smokers or those with poor oral hygiene, it should be reduced to every 3 months.

Each return visit will still be charged at the same price of 300,000 VND or 1,500,000 VND as shown in the table above; this is a fixed price per visit, not a long-term package price.

Many clinics separate polishing into a separate package, which is more expensive than the basic package. At Dental Fam, polishing is a mandatory step in the process, performed immediately after plaque removal, so you don't need to pay extra for this step.

When Will Additional Costs Incur?

Some conditions detected during the initial examination, before scaling, may require one of the following five services: periodontal pocket curettage, non-surgical periodontal treatment, surgical periodontal treatment, laser treatment, or fillings.

These are not unexpected additional costs incurred during scaling. The dentist diagnoses these conditions through clinical examination, X-rays, and periodontal pocket measurements before starting, then provides specific advice and a clear price quote for your decision.

""Mandatory"" here means that, medically speaking, the condition needs treatment, not an additional fee to increase revenue. For optional cases, you have the right to refuse if you don't want to proceed immediately.

Payment Methods

Dental scaling is not currently included in the installment payment options at Dental Fam.

Dental Fam's current financial support policy (internal installments or credit card installments) applies to long-term and high-cost treatments such as braces, dental implants, or multi-unit porcelain restorations. With prices ranging from VND 300,000 to VND 1,500,000, dental scaling is paid directly at the counter after the service is completed.
