What to expect
Most root canals are completed in one or two visits, each lasting 60 to 90 minutes. With modern anesthesia, the procedure feels similar to receiving a large filling, and any post-treatment soreness is usually mild.
Recovery & aftercare
Avoid chewing on the treated side until the final restoration is placed, and take any prescribed medications as directed. Mild tenderness for a few days is normal, and protecting the tooth with a crown when recommended helps it last for many years.
